Daisy-chaining a wireless router

I have a Linksys WCG200 cable modem/wireless router combo device. It sucks at wireless (and extensive Googling has indicated that's unfixable), but it's OK at everything else. Can I pick up a $30 wireless router, plug that into the device I have now, and use that without any loss of quality? Would I need any other devices? Would it just be easier to get a new stand-alone cable modem as well?

Best answer: Buy any wireless router and put your cable modem in bridge mode, which disables all the router and wireless functionality. That's all you have to do.
