Can the Hive help me identify this children's puzzle book from the late 1960's- early 1970's?
Hive Mind I need your help! For years now I have been trying to remember a children's puzzle book that I had purchased through the "Weekly Reader" book ordering service that was popular back in the late 60's-early 70's.
Here are the details of what I can remember about the book:
It was a paperback and it contained all sorts of word and number puzzles. I also distinctly remember there being several pages of rebus puzzles and what stands out in my mind most about the book was the very unusual illustrations that were throughout the book. They were all black and white illustrations of a character that reminds me today of "Punch" of the longtime British Institution "Punch and Judy", and in memory they seem to have been drawn in a Victorian style.
I believe I bought the book in 1971, but, it may have been a year or two earlier. I would dearly love to find a copy again, so any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

Response by poster: It's a very festive site MonkeyToes, and the illustrations are similar to the style of drawing that I remember, but that isn't it. Sorry!

Best answer: I think it'll be "Pick a Peck of Puzzles", by Arnold Roth. It was one of my favorites as well. I got the chance to meet him one time at a party, and told him how much I enjoyed the book. I think he was surprised.
