Pharmaceutical Companies in Denver?

ColoradoFilter: Who are the major industrial players in Colorado, specifically the Denver region? Are any pharmaceutical companies big there? I may be dragging the SO to Boulder with me for law school, and he needs a job in this field. (slightly more inside!)

My SO is NON-DEGREED, so I am looking for companies that will have plants/factories on the ground in the area, not just offices. Ideally they would be pharmaceutical companies, but I am interested in any/all ideas related to industry, especially including natural gas since I may be able to get him into something there through contacts if I know what's out there.

Thanks, MeFites! =)

Best answer: Amgen is the only one that immediately came to mind, but this list might help to get you started. They're all in the Denver area except for two in Colorado Springs.

Best answer: Most of the pharmaceutical industry is in Boulder (probably because of the University), which is about 45min northwest of Denver.

Most of the energy/mining is in Denver and the Denver Tech Center (about 30 min South of downtown in good traffic). A lot of this work is business development (consulting, marketing). The true mining is done on the western slope.

Telecommunications is pretty big (Level 3, Comcast, and Qwest is here, but I think was bought out recently). This is probably the biggest blue collar sector. Lots of work for linemen, installation, etc...

There is a big tech sector, lots of software companies. These jobs are spread pretty evenly from Boulder, through Broomfield, to Denver and the Tech Center.

Aerospace (as mentioned) is pretty big. Raytheon, Ball, Lockheed Martin. Colorado Springs (about an hour south of Denver) has a big Airforce base and the Airforce Academy is there as well. There may be some assembly positions there, but I am not sure.

Agriculture is pretty big up north (Fort Collins, Greely) so there's 'industrial agriculture' up there. Shipping, packing, etc...

Best answer: What about breweries? In addition to the behemoth Coors, there are tons of little breweries in Fort Collins and Boulder.

Response by poster: Oo, I hadn't thought about other blue collar stuff. The biggest issue for us is the pay discrepancy we expect. Here he makes $26/hr doing packaging work; the jobs we saw in CO were like $12/hr. =/

Breweries are a great idea too!
