How can a family accept online donations to a child's custodial account?

A friend passed away last weekend, and her family set up a custodial account as a college fund for her child. They've asked me to help them set up a way to accept donations online. How can I help them do this? Paypal?

Best answer: Paypal will allow you to accept money from other people to any bank account you link it to, as long as you have all the information on the account from them.

You could also use something like "ChipIn" if you're looking to promote this though social media, it's kind of a neat little tool.

Just remember that it doesn't really matter that it's 'donations' you're talking about per se as opposed to just receiving money like a vendor from people who want to give it to you, because donations can imply that it is for a tax deductible charity, which it isn't in this case, just a way to accept nice monetary gifts.

This site called Our Wishing Well might also be customizable for your purposes, although it's designed for wedding gift registries, it could be used to accept monetary gifts for other reasons.
