Firefox 4 made unwanted change

Before I installed Firefox 4 I had a bar across the bottom of the screen of my MacBook Pro (OSX 10.6.6) that displayed various apps-- AccuWeather current local conditions for example. Now it's gone. I can't remember what that bar is called, and, search as I may, I can't find it. Any ideas?

The status bar?

Best answer: It's now the Addon Bar. View > Toolbars > Addon Bar.

Yeah, I'm not sure why they decided to remove that bar completely without notifying you. You can restore it by right-clicking anywhere in the blank space on the top bar and checking 'Add-on Bar' at the bottom.

You want to use an addon called Status 4 Evar to allow you to see page / download status in the Addon Bar, much as the status bar allowed you to in prior versions.

What Dipsomaniac and Hargrimm said.

View > Toolbars > Addon Bar.

Very funny. My FF 4.0 has no View button.
However, under Options you can show and hide toolbars.

If you have the 'menu bar' hidden, you get no 'view button'. Right-clicking to the right of the right-most tab lets you select the 'add-on bar' (what most people know as the status bar) and make it visible.

Mine does. Or rather, it's a View menu. But then, like the OP, my FF 4.0 is running on MacOS. I gather Windows and Linux users just have a big orange Firefox button that everything's been rolled up into, and I assume you're on one of those platforms.

Thanks. My FF 4.0 (Windows) came with the menu bar hidden by default. It's good to know that the menu bar is just hidden, and we can resurrect it when we need to.

I'm using a PC and had the same problem. Thanks to you all and especially to Inspector.Gadget for suggesting the Status 4 Evar addon.
