Where can I hold a trivia afternoon in Sydney?

Sydney filter: Where can I hold a weekend trivia afternoon for around 80 people (fundraising for a charity project)?

I'm looking for a venue that:
1) can hold 80 people.
2) Preferably one that will not charge a booking fee (as they will get 80 odd people buying drinks and food all afternoon).
3) Easy access by public transport.
4) Available on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon.

or
Plan B:
another form of venue where people could BYO their drinks/snacks but has low cost to hire/access

Thanks for your help.

Friend in Hand is your friend.

Note the following condition

"(1) Main function room, $200 refundable deposit. Minimum spend on bar of $1000 not including food/entertainment or deposit is required. In the event of not reaching $1000 the $200 deposit is forfeited to cover the costs of staffing and security etc."

That means you have to be reasonably confident people would spend on average $12.50 each

Marrickville council has quite a few halls to hire....all near good transport and they have tables and chairs and kitchens. Give them a call.

Plenty of pubs have upstairs areas that can be hired out for private parties & functions etc - but I assume you already knew that. Normally these are booked out for friday / saturday nights, but on a weekend afternoon you'd have your pick.

I don't know about their booking fee policies, but some worth considering near transport are:
- Bar Broadway (Broadway, right next to Railway Square)
- Royal Exhibition Hotel (opposite side of the Devonshire St Tunnel, right next to Central)
- The Shakespeare on Devonshire St (might be a bit small for 80 people, but maybe not. Cheap food, too)
- Possibly the Strawberry Hills Hotel, on Devonshire again, but closer to Central than the Shakespeare...it's had a revamp recently that seems to have added an upstairs area, but I haven't been in yet. Same owners & kitchen / menu as the Shakespeare, so cheap & filling pub grub.
