Where are you going, Bear? Please wait for me!

Where can I purchase the children's book "Bear on a Bike" today in Cambridge/Arlington/Watertown, Massachusetts?

So I promised my toddler that today she could have her own copy of Barefoot Books' Bear on a Bike, assuming that we'd go to the Barefoot Books shop in Porter Square. That store has apparently closed. We've got a full day of things to fit in, so I'd like to avoid going in the opposite direction of our other errands and going to the shop in Concord. We're also going to Burlington, but apparently it is not in stock at the Barnes and Noble on the Middlesex Turnpike.

Any place you can think of that carries the book near the Arsenal Mall, North Cambridge, Arlington, Lexington or the shopping district in Burlington near the Lexington line? If we have to go to Concord, we'll do it but it seems like I can do this without the detour.

Not North Cambridge, but how about the Harvard Coop?

My understanding is that Barefoot books aren't carried in other bookstores -- that they're only available in their own stores, at private parties, and at some specialty retailers. You could call the Concord shop and ask them, though -- that would be my suggestion. Good luck!

Arlington Center has a used book store - the Book Rack.

There's a new children's bookstore in Lexington Center called The Elephant's Trunk that you could call and check.

FYI, Porter Square Books carries them but "Bear on a Bike" isn't in stock today.

Oops, forgot to add that the Coop or Curious George Bookstore, both in Harvard Sq would be my next calls.

Response by poster: The Coop and Curious George don't carry Barefoot books. Elephant's Trunk does, but doesn't have "Bear On a Bike." My wife works in early childhood education and is excited to hear that there's a new children's bookshop nearby, though.

Looks like we're skipping nap! Thanks everyone!

Whole foods carries barefoot books sometimes, too. I think that's where we got our copy.
