I'm doing market research and am looking for companies like Gore Tex and eVent, developers of functional textiles for outdoor apparel. Where can I find such information?

The Textile Technology Center in North Carolina might be able to help you.

Do you live near a college or university? The database called Business Source Premier has tons of this information.

Not near college, but near a Business Library.

I'm in NYC FWIW, do they have something similar to Textile Technology Center?

Well then, check out the American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists, specifically its materials group. AATCC lists corporate members here and they have a student chapter at the Fashion Institute of Technology.
