What is the historical origin and cultural significance of the Chinese Wedding Tea Ceremony?

I'm looking for a source of information (preferably available online and free) that will help me understand the following:

A) When/ where the tradition started (time periods, etc.)
B) A detailed account of all of symbolism involved during the ceremony
C) How the tradition has changed over

So far, my Google fu has produced very inconsistent and limited information.

Are you asking about the 改口 thing where the newly-weds give the in-laws a cup of tea and call them mum and dad for the first time? If so, afraid I can't find any detailed accounts of its origin online, though only made a cursory search as not sure if I understand your question correctly.
