PC games that have public servers?

I'm looking for PC games that have public servers.
I recently started playing Minecraft and discovered the joy of public servers. Each were modded in their own unique way, which made the game so much more fun. What other PC games have the option to play on public servers? I would like to exclude mmorpg's and FPS games.

Trackmania Nations is a freeware racing game, the in-game track creator is easy to use, which means an endless number of great user made tracks. This might be the variety you're after. Each sever has a large number of these tracks and they're typically well made.

Continuum is a freeware game where you fly around in little spaceships and shoot. The public servers have a large variety of game modes that differs from zone to zone. It's all completely free, easy to play (but hard to master) and it's fun.

If board games count, there are many, many options: go, pente, chess, checkers, etc. Ditto for card games like gin, hearts, bridge, rummy, etc.

Neverwinter Nights (at least the first one, not sure about future versions) has public servers. An RPG, but not an mmo.
