What is this autism book?

Looking for a book I read about a decade or a little more ago about a boy with autism. There was a dog that helped him communicate with the world, and it might have been from either his perspective or his mothers'. Any ideas what it is would be appreciated.

Response by poster: The Curious Incident is not it, unfortunately.

Best answer: Cowboy and Wills is another book about a boy with autism and his dog.

Best answer: Ah. I was going to suggest There's A Boy In Here by Sean Baron and Judy Baron. I don't remember if there was a dog, but it is unique in that it is presented in alternating chapters - first with a contemporaneous journal entry by the mother describing some strange and confounding behavior by her autistic son, followed by a chapter written by the now-verbal adult son explaining very logically (for unusual definitions of the word 'logical') what was going on in those incidents. It is an excellent book, highly recommended.

Response by poster: Actually, looking at the first few pages of There's A Boy In Here, I'm convinced that's it. Thank you, Lokheed!

You are more than welcome. I read that book in one sitting, and it was the first book I had read that really seemed to give me insight into how my son's brain works. I am still looking forward to the day when he can explain some things to me. ("Seriously, dude, why is 'ahed-ahun-oop!' the funniest thing ever?")
