Calling all music nerds: has Tom Waits ever covered Leonard Cohen? Has Leonard Cohen ever covered Tom Waits?

I don't know of any covers, but if you're looking for connections Tom once described Leonard Cohen's "I'm Your Man" thusly:
Euro, klezmer, chansons, apocalyptic, revelations, with that mellifluous voice. A shipwrecked Aznovar, washed up on shore. Important songs, meditative, authoritative, and Leonard is a poet, an Extra Large one.

I have Cohen's whole discography, and I don't think he ever covered anybody.

Well, he has his version of "Always", so he's done at least one song not his own. No Tom Waite that I know of-that would be awesome.

Huh. I did not realize that was a cover.
So maybe I should amend my pronouncement to "As far as I can tell, having listened to every Leonard Cohen song, none of them are obvious covers of any other song I'm familiar with."

The Leonard Cohen Files covers list doesn't include any by Waits, but it lists over 2000 other covers.
If there is a song that fits what you are looking for, it's probably somewhere on that site.

hmmm ... I just listened to anthem from the recent live in london recording, and i have to say his voice (LC's) has just gotten lower and lower with time ... so if leonard cohen doing leonard cohen sounding kinda like tom waits will do, enjoy!
