Where do I set the Transfer Function in Adobe Photoshop CS5?

My college newspaper uses Transfer Function to control dot gain in B&W photos. In CS4 it was a button in the print dialog box. That button is gone now, and the help files offer no help.

Does this help? Screen and Transfer print options are not available in Photoshop CS5.

Issue: There are no Transfer Functions and Halftone Screen options in the Print dialog box in Adobe Photoshop CS5.

Solution: Save your file in the Photoshop EPS format, and select the Include Halftone Screen and Include Transfer Function options in the EPS Options dialog box.

Response by poster: Nope. That check box says include the info in the file, and that's just like CS4. But where does one now actually set the values? It was in the print dialog before, but now is gone!

Dot gain is managed with Working Spaces profiles.

Hummm. I tried changing that setting and it makes no difference when I print or in in how the image appears on the monitor. I may well be missing something.

But in any event, the newspaper has been attaching transfer curves to gray scale images for years now and changing the workflow would be a pain. There must still be a way. After all, in the EPS save dialog there is a checkbox to attach the curve, so there must be a way to create and save the curve. I sure can't find it.

Have you posed this question at the Adobe Photoshop forum? It's a darn good question and you're probably not the first to raise it.

Response by poster: Turns out IT'S GONE. I need to find a more modern solution. There are work arounds, but they are ugly and not really workable.

Thanks for the "Adobe Photoshop forum" hint. That forum software is a pain, but posting helped me to the sad answer.
