Looking for the words to a song/chant i used to sing (mumble) at school in England in the 70s/80s.

It went like this:
leader: i'm singing one
group: what is one?
leader+group: one is ...(mumble mumble mumble - didnt really learn the words).
It went all the way to 10 i think.

Ring any bells for anyone? Thanks!

Sounds like "Green Grow the Rushes, O" based on what you've said so far.

Following on from Sidhedevil, it could be Kennth William's variant 'Green Grow My Nadgers,O'. That was very popular at school in the 70s.

Here's a YouTube version from Sesame Street, with a lot of word changes to make it nonreligious, but the melody I learned growing up.
