Keep my mattress decent!

Please help me find (in the USA) a mattress pad and fitted sheets to REALLY fit a 15"-thick mattress.

I recently bought a mattress & box spring set for my guest room. The mattress -- for a double bed -- is about 15" thick. It's thicker than my own mattress, but I didn't think it was excessive: I toddled over to Bed Bath and Beyond, bought stuff specifically labeled "for mattresses up to 18", "guaranteed to fit your mattress," and I thought I was set. Uh, no. The mattress pad and fitted sheets fit the corners of the mattress just fine, but they ride up in the middle, so the bare sides of the mattress are visible. I HATE the way this looks -- it's like plumber's butt, only with bedroom furniture.

If you have found linens that REALLY fit mattresses like this, and keep the sides covered, please share your secret! I'm not looking for over-the-top luxury bed linens, but I'm willing to pay a bit of a premium to solve this problem.

Would sheet straps help, if you hooked a couple together and stretched them underneath the mattress across the middle instead of at the corners? Or is the sheet fitting too tightly for something like that to work?

I have a really thick mattress, too, and the same problem. My "solution" is stretchy sheets (mine are made out of modal) and bed suspenders. And a big enough comforter to cover the plumber's crack. It's imperfect, but at this point I don't really care that much.

The biggest thing, though, is the bed suspenders. The sheets may look like they fit on the corners, but they can pop off really easily while you're sleeping. And that's way more annoying than the aesthetic problem.

Did you buy fitted sheets with elastics at the corner or all-around elastics? This makes a huge difference.

We develop and sell bedding and related stuff, and for such big matresses we usually recommend either jersey fitted sheets with lycra (for extra stretch), these will fit all right, we never have complaints like above. If the client wants percale or satin we usually "make 2 order".

However, we are in Europe, so different market, different mattress sizes. Etc.

My mom has a similar problem with her beds. She gave up on the "bed suspenders" and uses regular hold-up-pants suspenders instead -- they reach all the way across the bed, instead of just holding on at the corners.

Sealy sheets. Trust. They fit up to 20".

My mattress is 24" deep and these sheets fit it just fine.

Seconding Siena. The Sealy sheets are excellent.

Response by poster: I'll look into Sealy, though the link warns that the full size sheets are not as deep as queen or king size, which gives me pause. Anyone use these on a full size bed?
