Zugängliche Kulturdenkmäler

Does Germany have a date when national cultural monuments (Kulturdenkmäler) are openly accessible? Or more broadly; what opportunities are there to visit monuments even those that have found new use and are generally not accessible?

In the Netherlands there's something that's called Open Monumentendag; it's a yearly weekend where old buildings of note are openly accessible. For instance; old factories, old city castles, old bunkers, churches, monumental art deco offices etc. It's an awesome way to discover and view old buildings that are often 'hidden' in plain sight.
I'm hoping there are similar facilities in Germany. Ideally on a national level.

Best answer: Germany also participates in the European Heritage Days. This year's theme is "Romanticism, realism and revolution" and takes place on the 11th of September. You can find the relevant website (in German) here: http://www.tag-des-offenen-denkmals.de/
