Getting boots resoled in Toronto

Where does one get one's shoes resoled in Toronto's west end?

I don't know much about getting shoes resoled, but I know it can be done. However, I don't even know what kind of store to call for this kind of thing. (Cobblers? Do they still exist?) Any recommendation on where in Toronto - preferably around Parkdale, or downtown - I can get this done on a pair of Rockport boots?

The person who is always recommended to me is the guy at Bloor and Ossington. Tino's shoe repair, I think -- right across from the subway station. Mind you, I haven't gone there, but when I've asked this question in the past, that's the place that's recommended. Don't go to the guy in the little house in the parking lot of the Metro on College at Crawford -- he tends to do shoddy work.

In the west end, The Village Cobbler (262 Durie, just north of Bloor, between Runnymede and Windermere), is excellent. Downtown, I'd recommend Bay-Bloor Shoe Repair, who are in that small little building that runs between Bay and Bellair, behind Harry Rosen. Both those places have done wonders for my shoes, and they're very reliable.

If you're looking for a bizarre (though competent) cobbler experience, you can check out Yiorgos the Cobbler, located just off Bloor St. at 5 Dorval Rd (one block west of Dundas West subway station). He is the only service provider who charged me less than the original estimate.

There's a place at Yonge and Sheppard where I get my shoes repaired. It's right by the subway exit that leads to the Yonge Sheppard Centre. I don't know how their prices compare to other places, but they do very satisfactory work.
