Is there a way to fully customize Gravatar in standalone Wordpress?

Is there any way to customize the Gravatar in a standalone installation of Wordpress, so that my replies have my Gravatar, but other people's replies have either theirs, or a randomly generated one?

The installation is on my own server, and I'm totally comfortable digging into the .php files. I'm also perfectly happy to use a plugin to accomplish this. I just want my replies in comments to have a specific image, that isn't shared with other people's replies.

I have a feeling I'm missing something but you can add an email to your user account in Wordpress. Wordpress should use that for your gravatar.

Gravatar isn't a WordPress thing, you know that right? It's an internet wide thing. Go to the website and sign up.

Best answer: Under "settings" on your control panel, go to "discussion" and select one of the "default avatar" themes. This will generate avatars for those who don't have gravatar accounts (and, niftily enough, it will be the same each time they comment on your site). Then go to the gravatar site and register your email that you use to comment on your account.

Best answer: Does your theme respect the settings you have under
Settings > Discussions > Avatars?

And under Settings > General Settings > E-mail address, are you using the email associated with the gravatar you want?
