Problems with AvaFX (online forex trading) software download.

I signed up for a demo account with AvaFX, a FOREX trading website. It allows you to simulate FOREX trading with fake money so you can learn how to do it without any risk. I downloaded the software that they sent me in an email. When I try to open it, I get a small box that says "Status". It runs through a few things, then gets hung up on "loading profiles" and just sits there. Sometimes the trading dashboard sort of half opens, but in a way that I can see my desktop through holes in it, with different components half loaded and non functioning. I wrote to AvaFX and they said it might be a problem with my antivirus software. Against my better judgment, I even deleted my AVG and re-downloaded the AvaFX software but with the same result (I then re-installed AVG).
I have an Acer Aspire One and am running Windows XP.
Any ideas?
