I can't remember this movie!

Can you identify this movie I saw a few years ago? In the movie, a couple shares an spacious apartment decorated with an Asian theme. It had a darkroom and wooden floors. It may be from up to a few decades ago - 70s or 80s, perhaps. I can't remember much else about it, but it may have been a horror movie of some sort. I think the man worked in the darkroom, and had dark brown hair.. That's all I can remember.

This is a longshot, because it doesn't meet all of your descriptions, but Blow-Up?

Sounds a little like Don't Look Now -- tho I admit it's years since I saw it, and can't remember if the Asian theme was there.

Shutter?

It could be Shutter (the US remake of the Thai movie with the same name), though it is much more recent than your guess. The male lead is the guy who plays Peter Bishop in Fringe these days, and he has dark hair.

I am thinking Shutter as well, having seen it yesterday meaning to watch Shutter Island instead. An American couple is living in a fancy apartment in Japan while the husband works on a photography assignment. But every photo either one of them takes contains a mysterious flaw...

Sound familiar?

Ghost?

I don't remember the decorating style but it could be what you're thinking of.

Response by poster: Honestly, none of these sound familiar.. I think the male character had a showing or exhibition to go to at some point in the movie, perhaps at the apartment.

Here are the results of an IMDB search for the keyword "photographer" in the horror genre, sorted by release date. Perhaps something rings a bell?
