Where to repair a broken PS3?

Where should we get this PS3 repaired?
It's out of warranty. Drive just stopped functioning one day; otherwise, system boots and works. We have three cats and a dog, which may be the root of the problem; I've had to replace multiple computer optical drives...
Where's a good place to get it repaired? We live in Chicago but are willing to ship to a reputable repair shop. Anecdata appreciated. Answers telling us to get an XBOX 360 or standalone blu-ray player, or that we should just buy a new PS3, will not be quite so appreciated

Response by poster: Yes, I mean the optical drive. Thanks!

Do you have any independent gaming stores nearby (the kind of places that buy/sell/trade used games and systems, but aren't chain stores)? Whenever any of my son's systems have experienced problems (even ones we thought were irreparable), we take them to a little independent gaming store in the next town over and have always gotten an honest assessment of the problem and a reasonable price for repairs.

If you want reputable over cheap, Sony will still fix it for you, they'll just charge $150 (including shipping) for the service. I believe you get a new warranty with that. I have no personal experience with this service, but some random googling reveals some positive anecdata.
