6 AM flight out of Budapest?

How can I catch a 6 AM flight this Wednesday, the 29th, out of Budapest (BUD)?
A friend and I are planning to stay in a hostel in Budapest on the night of the 28th. We're not sure, though, about how to get to the airport for our 6 AM flight on time, since it looks like public transport doesn't start until 5:00. (The flight is through Wizz Air, if that matters.) Is our only choice a taxi? Should we find a room closer to the airport? Any other crazy ideas?
Thanks so much, MeFi.

Best answer: Public transport won't work in this case, and the fact of the matter is that you don't want to stay anywhere near the airport.
Wizz Air are awful about even vaguely late check-ins, so be forewarned.
A taxi from pretty much anywhere in Pest, or near the Danube on the Buda side, will cost no more than the equivalent of $30, with tip. But if you call ahead, there are slightly cheaper deals. Your hostel should be able to tell you.

Don't try sleeping in the airport. Most people *do* get kicked out after a certain hour, and the airport is in a pretty desolate place. And it's cold as fuck in BP now, day or night.

As I recall Budapest Airport shuts overnight. At least it used to. I caught a similar flight a few years ago, turned up early and there was a queue of travellers outside the terminal...
I think your only real choice is a taxi.

Makre sure you pre-agree on prices with your driver.

WizzAir should do shuttle pickups if you've booked a flight with them ... check and see if it's something you can add to your reservation?
(I've never done it from Ferihegy, as public transport is so much easier, but have from Katowice and ... someplace else ... with good results.)
