Lovely Weather for Whiskey Shots Together With You

I live in Chicago. I would like to spend Christmas in a bar. What bars are going to be open on Christmas? What bars would be likely to be open on Christmas?

-My favorite bars are Big Star, The Whistler, and Cole's, which are all going to be closed.

-My taste in bars leans slightly (ok, super) hipstery (see above list of favorite bars) but dives are fine as well.

-No chachi sports bars. I am, tragically, deathly allergic to bros. I can see some Wrigleyville bars being open but I'd rather drink at home or perhaps a garbage dumpster behind a McDonald's.

-It is not necessary that they serve food.

-It's OK if you don't know for sure they're open but think it's a good chance; I'll call and confirm.

I'm pretty sure the Hopleaf is open but their kitchen is closed on Christmas. I think I saw a sign there over the weekend to that effect.

Here is a partial list of restaurants/bars that were open on Christmas last year.

Also, a friend of mine is a Glascott of Glascott's, and she's calling her cousin to see if they'll be open. I'll let you know, unless you think Glascott's is too bro-y.

Not gonna help on Christmas eve, but Longman & Eagle will be open at 5pm on Christmas day.

It also looks like the Map Room is open Christmas eve. So between there and Longman you'd have all but the morning and early afternoon of Christmas day covered while still keeping the bro-quotient (brotient?) to a minimum.

These are all more dive-y, but off the top of my head I'd check the following: Danny's in Bucktown, Rainbo Club, Happy Village, The Blind Robin.

Quenchers? My favorite neighborhood bar. No idea if they'll be open.

Edgewater Lounge! What a great, low-key place to hang out in. I'm not 100% sure they'll be open, but they'd be my pick.

Response by poster: We walked past Hopleaf, realized it was as mobbed as always even on Christmas, and ended up curled up on couches by the fake fire drinking boilermakers at Simon's.
