PS3 to Mac

I've connected my PS3 to my iMac using an HDMI converter, but now I'm having sound issues....

I have USB speakers connected to my Mac. The audio coming out of the speakers from my Mac is fine. However, the PS3 audio is just emitting from the Mac itself and the volume is low. Also, there seems to be no way to decrease or increase the volume. I want the PS3 audio to come out of the same speakers.
Do I need to change the audio settings on my PS3 of my Mac? If so, to what?
