Where to stay in Encino

Need a place to stay for last-minute family reunion in Encino, CA., near Sepulveda Basin Rec. Area. 8 adults, 20 - 60, so a house or someplace with suites would work.

Maybe you know a realtor that handles short-term house rentals. Money not the most important issue. Would be nice to have a view.

Any great ideas on what to see and do welcome, though LA seems full of great destinations.

Not sure of this is what you want, but when we visit my brother we've stayed at the St. George Motor Inn in Tarzana. Looking at Google Maps, it's about 3 miles/~7 minutes from the recreation area, more or less a straight shot up (down?) the 101. The St. George Motor Inn has a pool, spa, and (some) suites with kitchenettes -- it is definitely not fancy, but it's well located, clean enough, and affordably priced. The Tarzana Inn is another nearby option that is similar -- we stayed there once when our kids were very little but I don't recall if they had suites.

Best answer: I will add: neither of the above motels has a view, or indeed, much to offer in the way of ambiance. They are cheap and well-located places to stay, and the St. George's suites are reasonably roomy.

Another local place we've stayed is The Courtyard Marriott - Sherman Oaks, which is even closer to your recreation area and much nicer than the two Tarzana motels in my other reply. Accommodations are also about double the cost of the cheaper places, IIRC.

Response by poster: We are staying at the Courtyard Marriott, and it's very good, close to my family, and we got a good rate. Thanks.
