What is the simplest image-scrapbook blog?

I want to setup a blog consisting of my scrapbook of photos and images collected off the internet for years. What is the simplest way to do this?

It doesn't have to be a hosted solution (wordpress/tumblr/etc). I'm comfortable running a PHP script etc on my own server if that's what it takes.

I just want to create a very simple blog (mainly for RSS feed junkies) which is easy for me to add stuff to without having to fill out "New Post" forms every time. There are hundreds of files.

If it's relevant, I'm on Mac.

People seem to use Tumblr for these kind of blogs the most. In fact, whenever I see a non-image blog on Tumblr I think it's kind of odd.

I too think Tumblr is the most common. But I'd recommend setting up your own Wordpress install for more control.

A vote for Posterous from me.

Response by poster: Tumblr doesn't really support a drag-and-drop mentality for large image collections. I'm thinking something more along the lines of the flickr image uploader for mac/windows.

Well, if you are open to using Flickr you can set things up so that it and WordPress play together and you can make the post from Flickr.

If it's all about images, is there any reason not to do this on Flickr? Flickr generates RSS feeds of your activity (in fact, it generates feeds for just about everything you can view as a page).

That said, if you're set on having a bloggy blog, you can upload everything to flickr and, if you wind up using a self-hosted Wordpress blog, there's a plugin for it that will automatically create blog posts of all your flickr photos that have a particular tag.

There's a good reason not to use Flickr for this purpose -- it's specifically against their site guidelines.

A fair point. If oxide's images are all in the public domain, I can't imagine Flickr would get worked up over that. And there are a fair number of flickr users that do nothing but post scans of old magazines and books, where the rights might be open to debate at least.

Gallery might be a better self-hosted option if ease of uploading is an issue. There's apparently an iPhoto uploading plugin for it.
