Is SRM Dead?

I have a small business and was looking at a new social relationship management website. In the comment box, somebody said the whole SRM concept is dead and has been for months.

I thought companies monitoring key influencers, complainers, etc. was what the most innovative companies were still doing? Is SRM dead?

OK well here's a comment in a comment box saying SRM is alive and well and living in a Twitter client near you.

Seriously: not dead.

I'm not really sure what to say beyond that. Did you want links to metrics, case studies, best practice or anything else that would substantiate that position?
