Where can I get free STD-testing done in the Netherlands or the UK?

While I have no reason to believe I have anything, I became sexually active a year and a half ago and it's responsible, if not somewhat late, to go get tested. If I were at home in the States, I'd take a visit to the local Planned Parenthood but I'm currently traveling long-term.

I'll be in the UK (London) until Christmas and afterwards, I'll be in the Netherlands (Den Haag, Leiden, Amsterdam area). I can either get tested now or wait until I'm in the Netherlands. The only testing facilities I've found charge an insane amount for it. I want to get checked for everything, but if that's not possible, getting checked for HIV and genital herpes are my priorities.

My health insurance will only cover medical treatment that can't be postponed (e.g. broken arm, gushing blood).

Is there some reason you can't go to a Genito-Urinary Medicine (GUM) clinic? Google tells me they provide free HIV and STI testing through the NHS. I'm not in the UK, so I'm not sure if there are specific things that I'm missing out on. More information here and a clinic locator here.

It seems that specialised std clinics have the option of an anonymous free test. This is one such clinic in The Hague.

In the Netherlands, you can be tested for free by the Public Health Service (GGD). here is the web site for the Amsterdam GGD office.
