looking for free directory assistance

Since Googs 411 shut down I am looking for a replacement. Any Ideas from the hive? I am looking for free directory assistance that I can use with my cell phone.

There's always Google SMS -- text your inquiry to GOOGL.

I find it way less convenient than Goog 411, though.

1-800-BING-411 is a bit clunkier and more menu-laden, but it does the job. There are plenty of discussions online about alternatives, with lots of people plugging (perhaps a bit too enthusiastically) JustDial's live operators.

1-800-FREE-411 is still around as well.

If you are looking for business numbers, and if your data plan is robust enough, I use Google Maps to get to my location, then search the map for the business, and it usually has a phone number or webpage to go with it. Not the ultimate solution, but it works most of the time.
