Mefites, please help my father find this song. The lyrics he recalls come after the break:
"Once I was king of the mountain of love, and it was mine.
King of the mountain of love, and it was so fine.
Then someone gave my heart a shove,
and down came the mountain of love.
Down came the mt, down came the mountain of love.
When I was king of the mountain of love, I didn't know.
That the king of the mountain of love was a false hello.
I left my mountain for a while, then the new king came into style.
And down came the mountain down came the mountain of love.
When you're the king of the mt, you must stay.
Up on the mt, night and day.
Don't leave the mt, 'cuz the mountain might move away!
I left my mountain for a while - then the new king came into style.
And down came the mt, down came the mountain of love."
It's a song from my fathers youth, but neither of us know the creator or anything else about it. Dad thinks it's a 50's song - maybe Canadian in origin.
Thank you hive mind!!! Dad thanks you too!

Best answer: Jerry Wallace ? Some signs on Google point to it being written by someone named Wayne Shankin.

Best answer: And here is a single of the Jerry Wallace recording on eBay. Picture of the label confirms this is the song written by Wayne Shanklin.
