What cream can be used to protect my face from cold air when walking at night?

What cream, gel, or lotion can be used to protect my face from cold air when walking at night?

I go out walking at night and do not get cold, but for my face, which does not like the chill at all.

Is there some kind of spreadable substance commonly used to protect against the cold wind? Something that I can wash off afterwards without further annoying my skin?

I would look a little threatening, even psychotic, in some kind of face covering like a scarf or balaclava. Walking during the day is not an option. Is this just a job for heaping gobs of Vaseline? How much do I use?

Best answer: I am a man and I oppose metrosexualism but even I know you need only get a tube of any moisturising cream/skin healing cream such as Savlon and just put some on your hands and rub it into your face. Whether you use one cubic centimetre or 0.97 cubic centimetre's worth...

Best answer: Vaseline is good. Aquaphor is also good. Rub it in little circles on and around cheekbones until it mostly absorbs, but leaves a little extra protective layer on top. But both can be a little sticky and annoying if you live in a place that gets really windy, resulting in sticky scarves or hair if your hair is longish. In the winter, I usually either opt for the ninja look or leave my face exposed, and then when I get home, rub my dried out cheekbones with one of the above or neosporin to restore moisture.

Best answer: I really like Aquaphor in the winter. I don't have great skin but this doesn't cause any reactions.

Best answer: Vaseline works really well for this.

Best answer: Nthing Aquaphor if you want to cover the whole face. It's easier to spread than Vaseline if you want to cover a larger surface area. Aquaphor on my face has worked well on winter runs in -10C to -20C temperatures. I like to rub in one thin layer over my entire face and ears first, then another another thin layer -- easier than glopping on and rubbing in one thick layer.

Best answer: Oh god yes, Aquaphor. I have some odd allergic reactions to certain skincare products, but never Aquaphor. Bonus: it also works well on healing tattoos!

Best answer: Vaseline is great for this. Use as much as you need to keep your face from being too cold. At -28C with strong winds, you need a nice thick coating of a few mms, while you need less at warmer temperatures.
