This video is simply full of teh awesome. How do I make an mp3 of it?

I think I need a little mp3 snippet of George Takei saying "you are a douchebag" purely for educational purposes. Is this possible for a pc, some program that would help me do that or is it a no-no?

Best answer: My go to answer for recording audio is Audacity.

Best answer: Step 1. load URL into Listen to YouTube.com
Step 2. convert YouTube file to MP3 (not sure what the standard vs. high quality toggled does, as this example resulted in a 128kbps file in both cases, same file size)
Step 3. download and install MP3 Direct Cut (freeware non-destructive MP3 editor)
Step 4. load your MP3 into MP3DC, clip the part you want to keep, and save it.
Step 5. enjoy.

Best answer: First you need to convert it to mp3 - there's tons of services for that, pick one.

Once you have the mp3 file, use an audio editing application to edit it. Basically what you need to do is select the section that has your phrase of choice, and use the "crop" button. Alternately, cut it and paste it into a new sound file. Audacity, I hear, is a great audio editing app.

In any case, it's fairly easy and you should be able to do it in a jiffy if you google around a bit.

Best answer: Note: MP3 files are small sizes due to "lossy" compression (meaning that the decompressed file will not be the same as the original uncompressed file). By opening an MP3 and editing it in a program like Audition and re-saving it, you'll be increasing the "loss" from the original format. So if the only thing you want to do is clip out a portion of the whole track, MP3 Direct Cut is ideal. It doesn't decompress the audio, 1) it limits the options for editing the file, but 2) it is "non-destructive" meaning the file will sound the same as when you first got it.
