Mars needs porn!

I have a need for porn. I've been tasked with doing an 'adult' site and while I have no ethical problem with it, I've never done one before and am having a hard time finding inspiration.

Specifically, I'm looking for examples of well crafted porn sites. By this I mean sites that do not rely of link obsfucation, redirects or invasive advertising (pop-ups/unders/betweens). Some sort of token respect for web standards and decent markup would be a bonus.

I have a small budget for 'evaluation' purposes but would like to spend it wisely. Not being real big on smut by nature, I'm having a hard time getting past the ninety-seven popup slam the browser shut stage.

The following sites are all likely NSFW:

For website design: Wylde Sites

For website hosting: xiando2000gigs/month for $100. (5 cents/gig)

Compare your concept to the current available market offering: The Best Porn Reviews. That is, if you are planning a paysite.

If you are considering doing a TGP (thumbnail gallery post) in the hopes of getting referral money, check out any one of the 3000 sites that uses the Comus Thumbs backend script. Note: there are many others out there to power a site like this, but this is the best one.

You can read more about all aspects of the online adult entertainment business at ynot.com

There's an INSANE amount of competition out there. In today's market, you -- or whoever you are in talks with -- need to have a unique idea in terms of content. Most importantly, excellent financial backing is necessary, especially if this is for a paysite.

Email me with additional questions.

Although not a pay site, it has a few nice touches (e.g. you can click on the link or click on the N for it to open in a new window).

You know what there's not enough of? Porn that makes me laugh. Seriously. What's wrong with smutty pictures that are also really funny?

I'm talking parody, pie fights, crossed-eyes, silly smiles. Something that will tickle your funny bone while your other bones are tickled otherwise.

I'd like to see a porn site that was also really silly and funny. (MAD TV funny, not Stileproject funny).

Suicide Girls should fit this description rather well. For others, try janesguide.com

http://www.abbywinters.com/ (NOT WORK SAFE, young nude models from page one)

I'm not a member and have never been, but I've had people on their forum link to things on my site, and I managed to get in and crawl around. It seems they have a really nice community, good content, and not many of the usual clichés. I'm not sure if it's particularly technologically or usability-wise enhanced, but I think throwing things like forums onto adult sites can only a good idea. Look at SublimeDirectory as mentioned above for more of this.

Don't know about web standards, but ten.com has the best porn search engine I've ever used. You can search by setting/kink/pairings, etc. Worth the money easily.

I always thought that BadPuppy (NSFW, natch,) was a really well organized site. Lots and lots of different kinds of content, all very easily found- quick loading, to boot. A little busy on the splash page, but they did the best job they could in hiding that.

www.literotica.com for the best dirty stories. oh, and it's well organized.

I've seen some good things done with "community" porn sites, such as WhatBoysWant.com (not the best example) and OneClickChicks.com (better). This model gathers a user base (requiring a free login) and then offers extra features to people who want the "pro" upgrade. Users post threads on a certain theme, and then other users follow-up with comments and similar posts. It's like a smutty MetaFilter! Anyway, if I were going to start a porn site, that's how I would do it. Good luck!

halcyon and his lady friend are starting up a porn site called pinkgasm. It's not currently open for membership yet, as they're still working on it, but it is the only porn site I've ever seriously considered joining.

If your work is asking you to create a porn site, these links are sfw.

abbywinters, has the best paid-membership site i've ever been to content/navigation/design wise. seeing as i'm registered at passwordfactory, i've seen quite a few membership sites.

http://www.fleshbot.com could serve as both inspiration and direct you to other reputable sources of porn. NSFW, unless your job is to look up porn.
