Name the film

A friend asks about a movie scene: The Guy and The Girl are sitting on the roof of a movie theater, smoking and talking, under a huge marquee or sign, and with spotlights all around. Can you name the film?
Empire Records was also my first thought. But, I also feel like I have watched this scene in many other movies as well.

I know I've seen that scene -- I'm going to go with True Romance because I've never seen Empire Records . . .

I will chime in with Empire Records, which was my first thought as well. Although -- aren't they on the roof of the record shop, not on the roof of a movie theatre?

I'm sure this isn't it, because they're dancing, not talking and smoking, but the description made me think of a scene from Strictly Ballroom.

I'm sure it's been used in several movies, but True Romance has the billboard, and the smoking...and some pretty epic dialogue as well....
