Suffering movie amnesia torture

Trying to remember a movie in which a woman meets her mother's (supposed?) ghost while visiting Israel. Help me remember. Please!!!! :)
I am trying to recall the title of an English language movie in which an American woman meets a somewhat mysterious older woman while on a buying trip to Israel for her boutique. In investigating the questions raised by the presence of this older woman she learns that her GI father fell in love while in France at the close of WWII. She is born as a result of that relationship. For reasons that I cannot recall she returns to the States with her father and is raised by him and his high school sweetheart whom he marries on his return. I recall thinking that the unstated suggestion of the movie was that the older woman who precipitated the chain of events was her natural mother. I suspect the movie was American and was made perhaps in the '90's.
