Help me name my candy company!
Relevant info:
- Based in Hampden, Baltimore, MD
- Ingredients as local and natural as possible
- Candy catering company to start, will be a candy / soda / gift shop once we get enough cash together
- Run by two hipstery / nerdy ladies
- We like quirky names, but it needs to be accessible to grandmas and such as well
Names that we've considered, but have dismissed: Spun, Sweetness and Light, Tastemakers, Candy Punks

Response by poster: FWIW, another one that we thought of and dismissed was PhenomeNOM. We can't do anything with Sweet Tooth because the company that we currently work for is named something VERY similar to that.

These are the names that came to me in the shower after reading this question (in the order they came to me -- this was before your comment, so I'm not sure how much of Sweet Tooth you can't use, so I apologize if there's not an even okay one among them):
Low and Sweet
Sweet Chariot
Gretel and Gretel's House of Candy
Tooth Ache
Nine out of Ten Dentists Agree
(This is the most ridiculous, but if you were at 910 Main Street it would be cool)
I was going to say the only name I wouldn't want you to use is Candy Sours (because my boyfriend's name is Andy Sauers (pronounced 'sours') and I've always thought this would be a cool name for HIS candy shop. But since the chances of me and mine doing opening a candy shop is nil, I'd love it if you'd use it, even though you have no reason to do so :)
Good luck with your business. It sounds great!

I can't think of a good "Hampden" or "Baltimore" pun, but if you can combine it with "Merryland" that would be pretty funny...

Maybe something like And Everything Nice.
Because little girls are made out of "sugar and spice and everything nice" and you use the nicest (natural, local) ingredients.

I think your timing is just right; candy seems due for a renaissance.
I'd go with something straightforward and serious such as 'Heirloom Candies'.

Hard Candy? (Oops, wasn't aware of the film before I thought of the suggestion. Still might work, though? I was thinking more along the lines of your opening the candy store in these 'hard times'.)

Oh my. This little guy's name is sometimes spelled 'akidna' and would make the most adorable logo on your sign.

Confectionarium
Naturally Sweet

Edible Joy
(I wanted to find something that rhymed with confection but I kept on thinking "c-section" which just seemed like a weird path to take)

Honey Pie

Candy Girls
Or just "Gretel and Gretel?"

- Sweet Dreams
- Candy is Dandy (that way you have the "but liquor is quicker" reference for those who get it)
- Tricks and Treats
- Sweet Reality (because you are trying to use natural stuff)
- The Cat's Pajamas Candy Company (because I like the idea of "The Cat's Pajamas". See also "The Bee's Knees".)
- Sweet Tooth
- Delicious Things
- OMFG Candy! (probably not accessible to grandmas, though)
- Alice in Candyland (I just love Alice in Wonderland, though, so my taste here is suspect)
I think I like OMFG Candy! best and also I am fond of The Cat's Pajamas (with or without "candy company"). I will hopefully come up with ideas of equal brilliance as I continue procrastinating, but either way good luck!posted by Mrs. Pterodactyl at 11:36 AM on October 10, 2010
