iPhone 4, iOS 4.1, Jailbreakable? What route should I take? What am I in for?

I'm tentative about the Jailbreak. I'm really pretty satisfied with the walled garden - the reason I want to get Cydia is that I have a Pogo, and as it seems like Apple is never going to embrace Bluetooth file transfer, so to print from the iPhone without a computer in between I need to Jailbreak.

unless it's been jailbroken before, it is not currently jailbreakable. progress is supposedly being made.

No, there's no jailbreak for 4.1 (yet). You're just going to have to wait for the next break and get on board then. Once you're broken, you can save your firmware history with cydia to downgrade back to a jailbreakable firmware release at any time, but if you dont already have the SHSHs on file and are on 4.1, it's a no go.

Best answer: The iOS jailbreaking entry on Wikipedia keeps a list of which jailbreaks are possible. It looks like you are out of luck (for now).

If it's not too much of a derail, I'm in the same boat as dirtdirt - iPhone 4 iOS 4.1 - and if jailbreaking isn't possible now, are there specific websites I should keep my eye on? Who's likely to release a jailbreak one there is one?

Redmondpie.com also has decent coverage and jailbreaking guides.

You may be able to downgrade 4.1 to 4.0.1 without SHSH blobs using a method similar to this one. Might be worth a shot.

Response by poster: I am now jailbroken, thanks to Limera1n - worked a treat. But now, of course, there's no sign of iBluetooth or iBlueNova in the Cydia app store. So, I am jailbroken, but my reason for jailbreaking is gone. Argh.
