Community Design Resources

Good online or print resources for community design?

I have to design several different types of communities for an upcoming student project. The communities will sit on large tracts of land and will most likely be suburban in nature.

I need some resources of "good" vs "bad" community design and inspirational we-ought-to-see-more-of-this design, whether in the form of blog posts or books. If it's a book resource, I'll only be able to check it out from my school library, so the more popular the title, the better.

Ideally I want to create a non-traditional community design. Maybe something that strives for a communal nature in which people live in something of a co-op.

Thanks!

It's pretty much the foundation document on the subject.
