Can I watch Dexter online/downloaded (paid)

How can I watch the new season of Dexter (on my media center Mac) without subscribing to Showtime? I certainly don't mind paying for the episodes but would like them in a timely manner. I do not live in a place where I can go to a bar that'll be showing it.

boxee allows you to watch many of the showtime shows. They have been adding Weeds episodes as season 6 airs, and have season 3 and 4 of dexter, so it seems as though they may show season 5 as it airs. I'm not sure about timeliness though, since i don't actually know when these shows first run.

I have heard that folks using software like Boxee and Plex watch current stuff within a few hours of airing by digging around for torrents. A friend of mine does this and has the whole thing scheduled automatically. I've never done it, and so don't know the nuts and bolts of it.

Seasons 1-4 are available on Itunes and Amazon Video-On-Demand, so it's likely they be available when the new season starts tonight.

To build upon these other answers, Automatic (which I have never used and do not condone) will allow you to subscribe to shows and will download the torrents automatically.

It's fairly simple to set up a bittorrent client to automatically download the new shows as they air; http://eztv.it/ seems to have all the previous Dexter episodes so it stands to reason they'll have the new ones as well. That's just a randomly-selected sitee, google "tv torrents" for a larger list.

Response by poster: Just to be clear: I know how to use bit torrent to watch tv shows. I don't want to do that. I want to pay for the show I want without paying for an entire showtime subscription. I don't mind BT for shows that I could watch/record with my existing cable setup. I don't have showtime and feel that I should pay for Dexter or get a Showtime subscription.

iTunes would be great but they don't mention season 5 yet. I'm hopeful they'll add it tonight.

Download it now through bittorrent and pay for it later through iTunes?

Response by poster: Thanks for the suggestions. In the end, I just added Showtime to my Cable. It's only $10 a month.

I need to catch up on Dexter before I start Season 5. I am about to get a Showtime subscription. Is Season 4 available on-demand right now? If not, I think I will purchase the episodes but if it is -- I'm saving that money.

Response by poster: Season 4 is available on iTunes and Amazon.

Response by poster: Season 4, if available on Comcast On Demand, would only be available to Showtime subscribers. I don't, however, think it's available.

@jz - there is a rebate right now for having Showtime for 3 months. You get $25 back. (Just keep your monthly bills and send them over when 3 months are up)
