Best used Scooter Recommendations

I bought a Twist n Go scooter last year without the research and it turns out that its very hard to get parts for this scooter when repairs are necessary. I was wondering if anyone could recommend a manufacturer(honda etc...) of a scooter that if bought used could still be quickly repaired with parts that are still made or easily ordered. Or a scooter that is new, but cheap and will last long. I would like to keep my purchase under $1000...

It's definitely not in the "under $1000" category, but I used to have a Kymco People 50cc that I tooled around town on. Kymco makes great scooters, and parts should be readily available. (Just as an aside, my derestricted 50cc could hit up to 50 mph, and always cruised easily at 45 mph)

Your main consideration might need to be what you have in town as far as repair shops or dealerships, though. And stay away from the new Vespa scooters. They're too much money for too little scooter.

Response by poster: thanks for the info so far...I'm lookin at 50cc...need that top speed of 45 to 50mph...otherwise scooter gets too big for me and I'd rather buy a motorcycle if the cc's are higher...
