Beautiful Wordpress Design Examples

Cutest, Functional WordPress site layouts with lots of bells and whistles?
One of my students has a book for teens coming out (with a real publisher! go kids!) and she has a designer who will be making her new site, transferring all her WordPress files over to a new, pretty, highly functional site. She wants there to be live Facebook and Twitter feeds, buttons to buy the book, etc., all in a colorful, easy to understand layout. The designer will be customizing everything for her, but asked her for favorite sites. HiveMind, have you any examples of non-boxy, pretty, bright WordPress sites that you admire/enjoy browsing? While author sites would be great, any type of site would be fine. I'm completely not knowledgeable about this stuff but know that all of you are!!!

Don't have any specific examples in mind, but Smashing Magazine has done a whole bunch of roundups of great Wordpress themes. Click here to see their archives. I've found really great, free themes there. They have an eye for design.

If the designer is taking care of creating the site, she doesn't need to restrict her search to Wordpress but can browse through any css gallery for ideas - there's a good selection of bookmarked sites on Delicious.
