I'd ask George, but he doesn't speak English

Can you translate the Chinese(?) characters on this picture for me?

I'd like to know what the characters under "George" in this photo read as in English.

(This is a picture we tracked down of our dog George who was rescued in Taiwan and found his way to New York. The forum post the photo appears in is here if that provides any useful context. I ran it through Google translate to get the general idea of the story, but of course the text in the image doesn't get translated.)

It's Chinese. The first part, all up to the last five characters, means "Animal Rescue Team Taiwan" (or at least, it's the same as their logo on the homepage, which has that as a legend). The rest, "網路編輯組", seems to mean something like network-compile-to form, make of that what you will (disclaimer: I don't speak Chinese or understand any of it).

And just FYI, the words in Chinese read like so:

台灣動物緊急救援小組網路編輯組

Hopefully this can help someone else find the meaning of it all. But it really does seem to me like some kind of copyright notice or notice that Animal Rescue Team Taiwan took the photo, something like that.

Google translate says that "網路編輯組" means Web Editorial. So, sum total, "Animal Rescue Team Taiwan Web Editorial", which is where they posted the picture.

Response by poster: Hey, thanks for your help. I thought maybe it could be some kind of copyright something or other, as a few of the photos appear to have the same message. But some of them had a longer caption and so I thought maybe it might be something specific to the dogs.

Unfortunately, this provides no insight as to why he's scared of skateboards or large white trucks.

Yep, 網路編輯組 means something like their web reporting/content team - the captions on the pictures at the forum are mostly saying where/how the dogs were abandoned, a couple of them out by a reservoir for example and with the three younger black dogs, they were found tied to a fence at the same reservoir and in a weakened state as that had stopped them getting any food or water :(

IAAT but IANYT (I Am A Taiwanese but I Am Not Your Taiwanese).

The pictures probably serve no meaning other than to tell people 1) they are copyrighted 2) if you are interested in these dogs how you can look up the organization. And they do say what splice said.

From the forum: Both George and Mary were abandoned at a local dam (this may not be an actual dam and just the name of the place). The rest of it were just people thanking each other, not a whole of information.

As to why George is afraid of skateboards and large white trucks...unfortunately rescued dogs come with all kinds of emotional baggage - perhaps his previous owner drove a white truck? Who knows. But I'm glad he found a home with you. Thank you for taking him in.
