How to fix my iTunes to iPod Touch calendar sync?

iTunes broke my calendar. I can no longer sync Outlook to my iPod Touch because "sync server failed to sync." I can't find an answer to this on iTunes help although I do see that others have had this problem. Any suggestions? I've always done this over a USB cable. Nothing has changed except the calendar won't sync anymore. My iTunes software is up to date. I think Notes and Contacts are syncing -- though I just realized I haven't really tested that. I don't sync music in this operation, I do that from a different machine with different settings.

What is your default calendar set to? I'm not sure where iTunes pulls that information within Windows, but many applications utilize the default settings IE uses. You can try opening your Internet Explorer and check your Programs tab under Tools/Options.

My first step would be to uninstall iTunes, reboot and then reinstall iTunes.

Response by poster: Tried uninstall/reboot/reinstall. Same error. Which is: "iTunes could not sync calendars to the iPod...because the sync server failed to sync the iPod." Kind of supremely uninformative.

Check your services to make sure the Apple ones are started. (start/run "services.msc")

You might also want to check your event logs to see if more information is being reported there. (Right-click My Computer/Manage)
