How do I find a decent Indy child support attorney?

YANAL, but that's what I need. How do I go about finding a decent child support attorney in Indianapolis?

My current child support agreement with my daughter's mother was calculated to include splitting the cost of daycare down the middle. Now that she's in school, though, I feel it's time to redo the agreement. My daughter and her mom are in Indiana, and I'm... not. The original agreement was in a different state. When I try to find a lawyer in the Indy area, I end up with pages and pages of lawyers.com and findalawyer.com and omgyouneedalawyer.net and heywhydontyoutrytheselawayers.org that seem to be more about SEO than actually telling me if the lawyers are any damn good or not. Is there a reputable way to find a decent child support attorney in the Indianapolis area?

Do you know any lawyers? Call them up and ask them who they would go to if they had a family law issue that needed addressing. Then, call those lawyers and ask them whether they can take your case or refer you to someone licensed in the right state.

Go here to run a search for reputable attorneys in your area. When searching, select "Law Firms" from the drop-down menu at the top, and then type in "family law" in the practice area box. Martindale ratings are generally considered reliable.

I sent you MeFi mail with some information about this.

Sorry, but using martindale or findlaw or lawyer.com or whatever other general legal search engine to find a family law specialist is about as reliable as using google in terms of finding someone who actually practices the majority of their caseload in family law. Use aaml.org instead.

the local Bar Association should be able to refer you to the proper attorney or give you a list of suggestions for you to contact.
