Searching for Anniversary Dr. Pepper in Chicago.

Dr. Pepper supposedly has released a sugar variety for their 125th anniversary. I've looked in every store where I normally shop and have not found it yet. Has anyone seen Anniversary Dr. Pepper in Chicago?

If you can't find Anniversary Dr. Pepper and you still want sugar-based (i.e., not corn syrup-based) Dr. Pepper, you can order it from the bottling plant in Dublin, Texas, which still makes it with sugar. It comes in glass bottles, too, which is very nice. Shipping's a bit expensive, but what do you expect for glass bottles?

No idea about Chicago, but I found and have been enjoying the stuff from my local Walgreens. I know the chain exists up there too, so it's worth a shot!

They just moved "Heritage Dr. Pepper" (with real sugar) out of stores last month, and were supposed to begin replacing them with the snazzy new Anniversary Dr. Pepper cans & bottles- I believe they are the same thing, just with more distinctive graphics- it might just be bad timing. I haven't seen the Anniversaries yet, but our local 7-11s have the Heritage ones still- they look a lot like the regular Dr. Pepper packaging, so they are easy to overlook.

Have seen it in Target in the mid-west as recently as last weekend. Chicago stores likely have it as well.

Saw a whole bunch in my local Ohio Wal-Mart recently, not in with the rest of the pop but on its very own end-of-the-aisle display with some other real-sugar varieties.

Response by poster: I love Dublin Dr. Pepper, that's why I want to try this.

No luck at any of the half dozen Walgreens near here, they mostly still have "Iron Man" Dr. Pepper. I think I just need to find somewhere with more turnover maybe.

Going to hit Target and Strack and Van Til later, but any other sitings would be appreciated.

You might try to find upscale soda places that carry the 8oz bottles of Dublin Dr Pepper. I know that places that tend to go for the high-end bottles of soda tend to have it.

(Oh and Dr Pepper ditched the . in Dr in the 50s for stylistic reasons.)

Data point from not-very-close, I just picked up a plastic bottle of 125th Anniversary Dr. Pepper for my wife (I favor the real-sugar Mountain Dew) in Christiansburg, Virginia at a Sheetz)) -- though Sheetz locations only seem to extend to Ohio. I was on my way home from a meeting. It has callouts about the anniversary that the real sugar version I picked up at Christmastime (also for my wife).

How does one find out if the stuff is coming somewhere? I can't get the Mtn Dew product here in Roanoke anymore, and I was surprised to see it 45 minutes away in quantity.

I found it at all the Targets I visited across North Carolina while I was visiting family last week--the kind made with sugar, too*--and keep meaning to check out the Targets here in Northern California now that I'm home. I've heard from Midwest folks that they've found it in Target, too, so that's probably worth a check.

*In case you don't already know, some of the anniversary-packaged Dr Pepper is still made with HFCS, so be sure to check the ingredients label if you want to make sure you get the sugary stuff.
