What's the best midi keyboard controller to use with Logic 9?

Hi, I'm using a Remote SL compact by Novation with Logic 9 and I am not able to get it to work. I've tried virtually everything. So I'm in the market for something different.

If you use another keyboard and it works like a dream please tell me which one.

Thank you so much for your time.

P.S. If by some miracle you actually know how to work the Remote SL compact with Logic feel free to write out the exact steps to get it to work and I'll be forever grateful.

Best answer: I use the Axiom Pro 61. You can control Logic with the transport and change the parameters of the plugins on all the tracks from the keyboard using Hypercontrol. It can do a bunch of other stuff as well but I haven't had time to completely figure it all out. I haven't had any problems.

Just trying to figure out what you mean by "am not able to get it to work" - Are you using the USB outs or the MIDI outs? If it's MIDI out, how are you connecting to logic?

If there's some other hardware/connectivity issue, I'd hate for you to spend money on a new controller and find that it too doesn't work...

I use two M-Audio keyboards. My latest purchase is the Keystation Pro 88, which has weighted keys, a big display, lots of knobs and sliders. The sliders can be used as drawbar controls for organ patches, which was a big selling point for me. My other M-Audio keyboard is a pretty basic Keystation 61es, which doesn't have weighted keys. Both are powered by USB, so I don't need to bring along any power cables for them.

Response by poster: Thanks for the responses.

I use the USB cable from the Remote to the iMac. Essentially I have a hard time getting the Remote to work the way it promises to.

– I use the Automap and it recognizes the instruments, but does not do the mixer (and I don't know how to switch instruments with the keyboard)
– When I use the Logic template (39) it can do the mixer but only if I add the Remote SL as a device (and this is not mentioned in the video tutorials)

It doesn't sound as bad as all that, but when it's buggy like this I get nervous and just want something more rock solid.
