Childhood Book Set in Medieval Times

I read this book in the 1970s or possibly the early 1980s. The story is set in medieval times, the main character is a girl and it has to do with damask roses (breeding or raising them?). There's more too it of course, but that's all I remember. The book was a paperback and the cover had a full colour drawing of the girl on the front standing by some roses. I believe she's wearing a rose coloured cotehardie or something similar. A rock wall or well may have also been in the background of the cover.

All credit to Loganberry Books and its "Stump the Bookseller." (I searched for "damask," and your book popped. But thanks!)
