Dirty magnifier -- help please!

How do I clean a full page magnifier?
I havea full page magnifier (it is not glass and has circular ridges on the back)
You can see another view out of the package.
I actually have it set up to stsnd in front of my monitor to magnify my computer screen.
It has gotten smeared -- which is working against the purpose of helping me to see my computer screen.
I have tried plain water and eye glass clearner -- neither one worked and the eye glass cleaner actually seemed to make it worse.

Best answer: Your fresnel magnifier is made of PMMA/acrylic plastic. You should clean it with an ammonia-based cleaner and a lint-free microfiber cloth. A drop of detergent in some water will work as well.
You should not clean it with alcohol, as alcohol can cause it to fissure and fog.

Best answer: Ammonia will damage polycarbonate, but not acrylic. Alcohol will damage acrylic, but not polycarbonate. Almost all large fresnel elements are manufactured from acrylic/PMMA. Ammonia is a fine cleaner for acrylic.

If you use a cloth on it, move it along the ridges rather than across them.

Response by poster: So, I can use Windex? It says "with ammonia D"
Thank you so much for the quick replies!

I'd do the same thing recommended for plastic-coated eyeglasses: warm water, relatively pH-neutral soap and gentle rubbing, followed by drying with a clean, lint-free cloth.
