[PeopleWhoSeeDeadPeopleFilter] Help me find some books...

...that would be of interest to a fan of shows like Ghost Whisperer and Medium. Bonus points for "true stories" (don't laugh - you know what I mean) or books about or written by the real people, like the people behind those two shows, James Van Praagh and Allison DuBois.

I mock Mr. F regularly for watching those bro-hunter guys on the Travel Channel (at least he does it ironically!), so I'm not much use on the actual public figures, but I'd be remiss not to recommend Sean Stewart's Perfect Circle.

No specific ideas, but you could look through the Fortean Times book review archive.

Lisa Williams is a fairly well know British medium/clairvoyant and she's fabulous. Her show was featured on Lifetime television and she's warm and engaging. She has a book out (can't think of the title but I have read it) and it's very much in her own voice) - definitely recommend her.

I am into this whole field (not clairvoyant myself but I am clairaudient so I hear things (ha! I hear dead people!) so mefimail me if you want to talk more.

Here's some links to books about/by mediums, who mostly claim to communicate with the "crossed over" as opposed to those who report helping the confused deceased make it "into the light." I've asked a friend who does the latter to weigh in with some recommendations; will pass 'em along.

Gretchen Vogel
Gordon Smith
Mark Ireland/Richard Ireland

The TV Tropes wiki has a page devoted to the "I See Dead People" trope.

Some "retrievers":
Gordon Phinn
Bruce Moen
The Monroe Institute

Just in case, there's a lot of links to/about the real-life inspiration behind the Ghost Whisperer, Mary Ann Winkowski.
