What's the name of single page joke sites?

Is there an official name for the new crop of gag sites like khaaan.com, sinkingship.com, dontforgetpoland.com and uweboll.com? With really low domain and hosting prices these days, they seem to be everywhere.

Do we just call them "gag sites"?

Best answer: Uweboll.com is my favorite of this trend, simply because it's so minimalist. I'd like to see it stay that way, but I bet it won't for too long.

As for your question, I don't think there's a name for this kind of joke domains. You can call them JokeDomains (TM), but you'll owe me royalties. "Gag sites" works, too.

How about "Ponies" or "pony sites"? As in "one trick..."?

I don't know what you call these sites, but here's my favorite... still classic. (link contains sound: heads up for those of you pretending to be working)

Fuzzy, thanks. That brought up my all-time favorite Websense blocking message at work:

Access to this web page is restricted at this time.
Reason: The Websense category "Tasteless" is filtered.

For a while you could make your own Yourethemannowdog style pages at ytmnd.com. They called those [loop+uglytext+repeating gif] pages "ytmnd's". Ytmnd just goes to the classic start-of-it-all [^] page now.

The best one ever http://getyourasstomars.com/ . You'll need to dust off IE to look at it.

Damn. http://markie.biz doesn't work anymore. All it said on it was "you say he's just a friend".

Response by poster: Ok, I guess JokeDomains™ is it! :-) Now the next question is: What are your favourite JokeDomains™?

Does "uweboll" mean something that I'm not getting?

Nevermind, should have googled before posting... Never heard of Uwe Boll...

I think of them as traps.
